We are all affected by the space we are in, especially when we are in an emotionally sensitive state. Can design make childbirth easier and more natural?

ABOUT THE PROJECT
In this project, I have investigated the possibility to use design to create a more sacred and harmonic expression to promote more natural childbirth, without lowering standards of hygine and funktion.
A birthing room is constantly exposed to intensive wear and tear. Demands for hygine and durability have left us with a cold but "funktional" environment. But when we give birth in the room, it should also manifest a sacred and harmonic expression. Todays stress and its view of childbirth have affected women to the extent that Cesarean sections have increases heavily all over the world, resulting in more complications.

ABOUT THE PROCESS
I have a focus of user centerd design in my work, where I look to create the best products for the user. Focusing on optimal usages of material and prefromance and perception. As well I alway keep open for developing products with as good environmental impact as possible.
Sweden, Vietnam & U.S.A
I have through a creative design process work with exploring the field of Birth hospitals. This by visiting hospitals and nursing departments for birth giving, both in sweden and vietnam. I have chosen vietnam because it is an explanatory country that differentiates in culture. This i have seen as important for the development of my concept and to get a holistic and broad perception of how birth giving is taking place. I have interviewed midwives from sweden, vietnam and america. And through field studies, environment analysis, user scenario and product analysis i have shaped my concept.
