How to create a product from a waist material to a high end product with an emotional value?

This project was about finding a new place for a material that has been sorted out because of small deformations. A material that otherwise would been thrown away. I made a series off tables that can be pushed or put together to create a large formation of furniture/ tables. I wanted to show the uniqueness of the materials structure and color and still have a coherence in the aesthetics.

The task was to create a product from a waist material. Kebony is a company that treats wood for a more natural durabuility. The process of the kebonization makes the wood darker in color with a rich tone that when left out doors will develop a silvery gray patina. In the process of treating these woods there are rest material that can not be sold for their original perpose, these materials are still high in quality and can be made in to something new. The rest material is shifting in shapes, size and quality of treatment and when cut up in peices a uniqeness in the coloring appeers.

This is a project that has a environmental meaning/impact and that is very important for me. As well as I like building real things and it was very fun.

I want to create a product that holds an extra environmentally star by being the second grade wood. A story with soul and tale about how we can think regarding product development. I am targeting an audiance that will and wants to take a environmental statement, stil being a strong in its material.

- encourage personalization and rearranging.
- stand out with unique colors to each peace of the collection
- the table is an important part of your dining experience.
- environmentally conscious products

This project includes work in sketching, mockup building, 3d rendering, 3d printing, woodwork, welding and metal work.
